Houdais M. enhanced the Taxon Detail History Chart in the inaturalist/inaturalist repository, focusing on improving data visualization and frontend usability for researchers. Using JavaScript, they reconfigured the chart to display a default timespan of the last 10 years and implemented an auto-zoom feature that highlights the most recent 11 years of data. This adjustment aligned the chart’s behavior with common research periods, streamlining the discovery of long-term ecological trends. The work included refining tick configurations for better readability and was delivered end-to-end with minimal regressions, demonstrating thoughtful attention to user experience and research-driven data exploration needs.
