Developed and implemented a feature request template system for the ORNL/DataFed repository, focusing on streamlining the feature intake process and improving project governance. The work centered on designing and updating Markdown-based templates, merging GitHub’s frontmatter YAML with custom YAML to enhance submission clarity and automate workflow steps. Leveraging skills in documentation, project management, and template design, the developer enabled automatic tagging and routing of new feature requests to the appropriate project columns. This approach reduced submission friction and accelerated triage, resulting in a more organized and efficient process for managing feature requests without introducing or addressing any critical bugs.
