Worked on improving backend reliability in the octoenergy/xocto repository by addressing a runtime issue related to AWS Boto configuration. Focused on ensuring that Django settings for Boto timeouts and retry attempts were strictly integers, which eliminated type-related errors during application startup and runtime. Refactored the Boto configuration logic into dedicated Python helper functions, making the configuration process safer and easier to maintain. Leveraged skills in AWS, backend development, and configuration management to deliver a targeted bug fix that enhances runtime stability and simplifies future changes. All modifications were linked to a specific commit for traceability and audit purposes.
