Worked on the apache/couchdb repository to enhance the node version reporting endpoint by adding conditional exposure of the Clouseau version. Implemented this feature in Erlang, ensuring that the /_node/{node_name}/_versions API now displays the Clouseau version only when the component is installed, while gracefully handling its absence. Developed comprehensive tests to verify both scenarios, focusing on robust backend behavior and reliability. Updated documentation in rst format to clearly describe the new endpoint behavior, supporting improved operator clarity and onboarding. The work demonstrated attention to API development, backend integration, and thorough documentation practices within a production-grade open source environment.
