In November 2024, Jamie Brown enhanced the obophenotype/uberon ontology by introducing new anatomical subclasses and refining data integrity. Jamie added the follicle associated epithelium as a subclass under Peyer’s patch epithelium and expanded the esophageal epithelium hierarchy with the stratum spinosum, establishing precise part_of relationships to improve anatomical accuracy. Using OBO and ontology modeling techniques, Jamie focused on data cleaning and ontology management to ensure consistency and granularity. Additionally, Jamie addressed data hygiene by correcting DOI formatting and removing empty synonyms, resulting in a more robust and interoperable ontology that supports higher-quality curation and downstream analyses.
