Worked on the flexera-public/policy_templates repository to enhance the accuracy and maintainability of Azure rightsizing policies. Focused on cloud cost management and policy as code, the main contribution involved updating the Rightsizing Policy to use Available Memory Percentage instead of Available Memory Bytes when retrieving memory usage from the Azure Metrics API. This adjustment improved the reliability of rightsizing recommendations and simplified internal calculations. The policy version was incremented to v6.0.4 to reflect these changes and ensure traceability. JavaScript and Markdown were used throughout the process, emphasizing correctness and data integrity over new feature development during this period.
February 2025 – Focused improvements in policy_templates to enhance rightsizing accuracy and maintainability. Key feature delivered: Rightsizing Policy now uses Available Memory Percentage (not Available Memory Bytes) when retrieving memory usage from the Azure Metrics API, with the policy version bumped to v6.0.4 (commit 128f3d9612c5829d9d43e0deeefd63bda641030d). This fixes data accuracy and simplifies calculations. No new user-facing features this month; priority was reliability, correctness, and traceability.
