During October 2025, Jan Mutke focused on enhancing the FZJ-IEK3-VSA/FINE repository by overhauling its documentation and enforcing consistent docstring standards. He introduced a Ruff-based linting configuration that applies to the core library while excluding test files, ensuring that documentation quality is maintained without disrupting testing workflows. Using Python and leveraging his skills in code quality and documentation, Jan systematically added comprehensive docstrings to important methods and functions throughout the codebase. This work improved API readability and maintainability, making onboarding easier for new developers and supporting long-term project sustainability through clearer, more accessible code documentation and standards enforcement.
