In December 2024, John Sturges developed LZMA-loader support for the Amped Wireless ALLY device on the mt7621 platform within the coolsnowwolf/immortalwrt repository. He addressed firmware size limitations by switching to a loader-kernel approach, enabling the device to accept larger firmware images that are incompatible with many mt7621 U-Boot implementations. This work improved update reliability and device compatibility for this target. John applied his expertise in device configuration, embedded systems, and firmware development, utilizing Makefile to implement and document the changes. The solution is traceable for future audits, reflecting a focused and technically sound engineering contribution over the month.
