Arbin Cheng developed a targeted reliability enhancement for the projectcalico/calico repository by introducing configurable DNS policy support for the Tigera Operator deployment. Addressing a specific challenge with DNS resolution in EKS environments, Arbin modified the Helm chart’s values.yaml to allow users to specify the dnsPolicy, ensuring robust service discovery and smoother deployments. This work leveraged DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code principles, and Kubernetes expertise, with YAML as the primary language for configuration. The solution was delivered as a single, auditable commit, reflecting a focused and well-scoped engineering effort that improved cloud compatibility without introducing unnecessary complexity or risk.
