Kandowontu developed and maintained the tfdsoft/famidash repository, delivering a robust suite of features and stability improvements for a retro-inspired platformer. Over eight months, Kandowontu engineered core gameplay systems, including dual-mode mechanics, coin integration, and advanced input handling, while resolving over 200 bugs to enhance reliability. The work combined low-level Assembly and C programming with asset management and XML-based level design, ensuring smooth performance on constrained hardware. By refining physics, optimizing rendering, and implementing rigorous version control, Kandowontu enabled rapid iteration and consistent user experience. The depth of engineering reflects strong cross-disciplinary skills in embedded systems and game development.
April 2026: Implemented core gameplay physics improvements for cube movement and dual-mode toggling, alongside stabilizing TMX level loading to ensure reliable level rendering. These changes reduced out-of-bounds deaths, improved gravity behavior during mode switches, and restored rendering stability across maps. The work strengthens player experience, reduces QA time by minimizing regressions, and demonstrates proficiency in gameplay physics, TMX/XML handling, and robust version-control practices.

March 2026 was a delivery-focused month for Famidash, balancing feature work with stabilization and polish. We shipped a jumps save/restore feature (persistence of practice points across levels) and executed a rollback due to issues, demonstrating rigorous risk management. Title screen polish was completed (ninja/minininja visuals, swingcopter fix) and the title screen rotation was expanded to include POGO and football, complemented by a lighthearted SNAKE-to-FART easter egg. On the stability front, we fixed a VS build for large targets, stabilized test/illegal state sequences, and performed UI/gameplay refinements (tower, title screen, speed racer). A Speed Racer ceiling fix was followed by a full level rebuild. We also increased ninja jump capacity to 3 and removed forced ninja enforcement to improve player autonomy, with data/read-only handling adjustments to tighten state management.
