Keegan Laur enhanced the bcgov/EDUC-GRAD-STUDENT-API by developing a payload enrichment feature that incorporated the student’s grade into the GradStudentRecordPayload, ensuring this data was transmitted end-to-end on the GRAD_STUDENT_API_FETCH_GRAD_STUDENT_TOPIC. Working primarily in Java, Keegan focused on backend and API development, updating and expanding unit tests to validate grade propagation and integration with downstream consumers. This work improved data fidelity and accuracy for analytics and reporting, while maintaining stable releases with no reported critical defects. The approach demonstrated a thorough understanding of messaging systems and robust test coverage, resulting in a reliable and business-value-driven API enhancement.
