Worked on enhancing LaTeX rendering reliability in the Quarto CLI by developing validation tests focused on table vertical alignment. This contribution to the quarto-dev/quarto-cli repository introduced automated checks to ensure that tables with valign=bottom are rendered according to design specifications, directly supporting output consistency and reducing the risk of regressions. Leveraging skills in LaTeX, R programming, and software testing, the work increased test coverage for LaTeX output formatting and established a foundation for future regression detection. No major bugs were addressed during this period, with efforts concentrated on proactive quality assurance and smoother release processes through improved validation infrastructure.
