
Developed and delivered a feature for the kubernetes/kops repository that introduced warm pool and mixed instances policy support for Kops-managed Kubernetes clusters. This work focused on enabling dynamic resource allocation and cost-aware scaling by allowing instance groups to leverage both warm pools and a mix of on-demand and spot instances. The implementation removed previous configuration restrictions, supporting more flexible and resilient cluster capacity planning. Using Go and leveraging backend development skills, the solution integrated AWS EC2 auto-scaling concepts and policy-driven strategies to improve cluster elasticity, accelerate scaling responses, and align infrastructure management with evolving workload and business requirements.
