During March 2025, Yoonsang Kim focused on stabilizing adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) configuration parsing in the IAS-Astrophysics/athenak repository. Kim addressed a critical issue in simulation setup by correcting the parsing of the refinement_interval parameter within AMR input configurations, replacing an outdated reference to refine_interval. This targeted bug fix, implemented through a concise and review-friendly commit, improved the reliability of AMR-enabled simulation runs and reduced the risk of input-related errors for users. Working primarily with configuration languages and leveraging expertise in simulation setup, Kim’s contribution demonstrated careful attention to input handling and enhanced the robustness of the project’s configuration parsing logic.
