Worked on stabilizing S-frame handling in the AV1 encoder within the libsdl-org/aom repository, restoring correct S-frame generation by re-enabling this feature and refining frame-type assignment logic. Introduced an is_sframe_due flag and added configurability for S-frame distance and mode, allowing more precise control over encoding criteria and reducing misclassification issues. Utilized C and focused on encoder optimization and video encoding throughout the process. Additionally, contributed to FFmpeg/FFmpeg by establishing clear code ownership for the libvmaf filter, adding a dedicated CODEOWNERS entry to improve maintenance governance and streamline issue triage, demonstrating attention to project management and codebase sustainability.
