Worked on enhancing certificate parsing in the erlang/otp repository, focusing on supporting Common Names longer than 64 characters to address real-world certificate requirements. Updated Erlang backend parsing structures and introduced new attribute handling to ensure compatibility with platforms such as Google Cloud and Tailscale. Developed comprehensive tests to validate the new long CN support and maintain regression safety across parsing paths. Improved validation logic and updated documentation, including maintainer notes, to reflect the expanded CN handling and testing coverage. The work demonstrated a methodical approach to backend development, emphasizing robust compatibility and maintainability within the Erlang ecosystem.
