Worked on the pgEdge/cli repository to deliver PostgreSQL 17 compatibility for vector and postgis extensions, enabling enterprise GIS and vector workloads on the latest database version. Over two months, focused on modernizing release workflows, refactoring setup scripts, and improving packaging to streamline deployment and future upgrades. Used Python and Bash to automate build processes, manage dependencies, and enforce security best practices such as hardening certificate permissions. Cleaned up legacy components, dropped unsupported versions, and clarified release management for Spock and core extensions. This work enhanced maintainability, reduced technical debt, and ensured the codebase aligned with evolving product and security requirements.
Monthly work summary for 2024-11 focused on delivering a cleaner, PG17-ready CLI release workflow, major packaging improvements, and substantial codebase cleanup to improve maintainability and security. Highlights include running release engineering to prepare 24.10.x devel builds, modernizing the deployment workflow, and laying the groundwork for safer future upgrades across the pgEdge/cli repo.
