Worked on enhancing the search user experience in the equinor/ert repository by developing a robust feedback mechanism for the SearchBox component. Introduced a pending indicator that displays during search operations, initially as an opt-in feature and later as the default behavior, ensuring users receive immediate visual feedback with a wait cursor during ongoing processing. This approach clarified system status during slow downstream updates and provided a consistent user experience across all SearchBox instances. The work was implemented using Python and PyQt, with a focus on GUI development and unit testing to maintain backward compatibility and improve perceived performance for end users.
