During May 2025, Hcgstd focused on improving the reliability of PeerBanHelper by addressing environment consistency issues in its startup process. Working within the PBH-BTN/PeerBanHelper repository, Hcgstd updated the rc.d startup script to export the JAVA_VERSION variable and default it to 21 when unset, ensuring the application consistently used the correct Java runtime across deployments. This change reduced startup failures and deployment risks, while also improving maintainability of the system’s initialization scripts. The work demonstrated practical application of configuration management, DevOps, and shell scripting skills, resulting in a more stable and predictable deployment environment for PeerBanHelper.
