Worked on the Flagsmith/flagsmith repository to address a critical backend issue affecting feature state updates. Focused on reinforcing data integrity, the developer fixed a bug where the API previously allowed null environment values during FeatureState updates, now ensuring the API returns a 400 error for such cases. The solution involved updating the FeatureStateSerializer to enforce required fields and adding comprehensive unit tests using Pytest to prevent regression. Leveraging Django REST Framework and Python, the work improved API robustness and protected against invalid data entry. This targeted contribution enhanced the reliability of feature management without introducing new features during the period.
