Worked on enhancing the paperless-ngx/paperless-ngx repository by enabling the DOCUMENT_TYPE environment variable for post-consumption scripts, allowing scripts to dynamically adapt based on document type. This feature was implemented using Python and Shell scripting, with careful attention to backend development practices. The approach included updating documentation to clearly describe the new environment variable and adding a dedicated test case to ensure reliable propagation of DOCUMENT_TYPE in post-consumption workflows. By focusing on both code and documentation, the work improved the flexibility and maintainability of automation scripts, supporting more robust and type-aware integrations within the paperless-ngx ecosystem.
