Worked on the Automattic/wordpress-activitypub repository to address a critical stability issue affecting embedded posts. Delivered a targeted PHP backend solution that prevents crashes when remote author profiles become temporarily unavailable, ensuring embedded content continues to render reliably. Implemented robust error handling within the embed handler and supplemented the fix with comprehensive unit tests to verify both successful and failed author fetch scenarios. This approach improved the reliability and maintainability of the codebase, focusing on graceful degradation and user experience. The work demonstrated strong backend development skills and a disciplined approach to testing, resulting in a more stable and resilient system.
