Worked on enhancing Windows compatibility for the Lapdog Launcher within the DataDog/dd-apm-test-agent repository, focusing on backend development using Python. Addressed cross-platform process management by replacing POSIX-only primitives with Windows-aware logic, including platform checks and appropriate use of Popen with Windows-specific flags. Removed dependencies on os.fork for Windows, ensuring the agent could reliably start, stop, and report status. Improved output handling by reconfiguring UTF-8 encoding and standardizing path formatting for Bun preload parsing. Conducted end-to-end verification on Windows 11 with Python 3.14, confirming robust agent backgrounding and execution flows. Delivered one targeted bug fix during this period.
