In January 2026, Mark Focko developed initial Hare language support and tooling within the cachix/devenv repository, focusing on configuration management and DevOps practices using Nix. He integrated Hare tooling and project scaffolding directly into the development environment, allowing developers to build and test Hare projects seamlessly within devenv. This work reduced onboarding and setup time for Hare projects by consolidating environment configurations and automating essential workflows. Although no bugs were fixed during this period, Mark’s contribution broadened the platform’s language coverage and established a foundation for future enhancements, such as compiler integration and debugging support, within the same environment.
