Worked on the derailed/k9s repository to enhance the XRay view’s security and user experience by enforcing read-only mode and aligning access-control patterns with the rest of the application. Addressed a critical bug by disabling edit and delete actions for immutable resources, such as Pods and Events, when read-only mode is enabled, thereby maintaining data integrity and preventing unintended modifications. The solution involved restoring and extending permission checks using Go, focusing on backend development principles to ensure only editable resources display modification options. These changes improved consistency across the UI, streamlined maintenance, and reinforced predictable behavior for users interacting with sensitive data.
May 2026 performance summary for derailed/k9s focused on hardening the XRay read-only experience and aligning with established access-control patterns. Delivered a critical bug fix to enforce read-only mode in the XRay view and reinforced consistent permission checks across the UI, reducing risk of unintended modifications while preserving UX consistency and performance.
