Developed and documented the ESP32 CAN listen-only mode for the esp32_can component in the esphome and esphome-docs repositories, enabling passive monitoring of CAN bus traffic without message transmission. The work involved C++ development for the feature implementation and Python and YAML for configuration and integration, ensuring the new mode could be easily adopted in embedded systems. Comprehensive technical documentation was created in Markdown, detailing configuration options, use cases, and prerequisites, and aligning with existing MCP2515 documentation for consistency. This approach improved clarity and usability, supporting both code and documentation reuse across the ESPHome project and related components.
