During November 2025, Mintimate enhanced GeoIP MMDB download functionality for the umami-software/umami repository, focusing on reliability and deployment resilience. They implemented support for direct .mmdb URLs and introduced a GEO_DATABASE_URL environment variable, allowing for more flexible configuration. Using Node.js and JavaScript, Mintimate engineered automatic detection of .mmdb files to bypass unnecessary decompression, streamlining the update process. Redirect handling was added to support dynamic hosting environments, while backward compatibility with tar.gz archives was maintained to minimize migration risk.
