During November 2024, mpnico focused on enhancing scalability and compatibility for the RSYNC integration within the truenas/apps repository. They developed a feature that extended the RSYNC daemon’s UID and GID range from 65,535 to 4,294,967,295, addressing the need for broader user and group support in large-scale deployments. This required careful updates to YAML-based deployment configurations to ensure seamless compatibility with the expanded value space. The work culminated in a version bump of the rsync daemon to 1.0.19, reflecting the underlying changes. mpnico applied configuration management expertise throughout, delivering a targeted, technically sound solution within the project scope.
