Worked on the TeamNewPipe/NewPipe repository, focusing on improving the stability and maintainability of the download subsystem. Addressed a critical bug in the DownloaderImpl component by ensuring that network resources are automatically closed after use, which prevents file handle leaks and reduces runtime risks during downloads. Simplified the logic for setting HTTP headers, making the codebase more robust and easier to maintain. Utilized Java for both network programming and resource management, applying best practices to enhance reliability. The work resulted in clearer, safer code that supports future development and maintenance, with all changes delivered and deployed in January 2025.
