Worked on the databricks/databricks-jdbc repository, focusing on enhancing stability and reliability in Java-based JDBC integrations. Addressed error handling in the HTTP Retry Handler by ensuring that missing retry-after headers for 503 and 429 responses no longer trigger exceptions, but instead return a safe value, reducing unnecessary failures during transient outages. Improved the metadata layer by implementing case-insensitive table searches in getTables, which streamlined cross-environment table discovery and reduced support overhead. Each fix was validated with targeted unit and regression tests, demonstrating a methodical approach to long-term reliability using Java, JDBC, and robust testing practices throughout the development process.
