Niyam developed KVM support for the s390x architecture in the shapeblue/cloudstack repository, expanding virtualization capabilities to IBM Z environments. The work involved updating Java code and configuration files to recognize and configure virtual machines for s390x guests, ensuring correct machine type selection, device handling, and feature enablement. By automating these configurations, Niyam reduced manual setup steps for s390x deployments, improving operator efficiency and deployment flexibility. Leveraging skills in cloud infrastructure, KVM, and system architecture, Niyam’s contribution broadened platform compatibility for enterprise workloads. No major bugs were reported, indicating a well-tested and robust implementation during the development period.
