Developed an enhancement for the home-assistant/core repository by extending the WeatherFlow integration to support real-time rain start and lightning strike event notifications. Leveraging Python and event-driven architecture, the work involved publishing new event types to the event bus, enabling users to receive immediate weather alerts and automate responses within Home Assistant. The implementation focused on backend development, specifically integrating WeatherFlow sensor data with the core event system to improve reliability and user experience. This feature addressed the need for proactive weather-related automations, demonstrating a strong grasp of Home Assistant integration patterns and event bus extension within a production codebase.
