During January 2025, Palis upgraded the GitHub Actions cache action from version 3 to version 4 in the verify_consumer_pacts.yml workflow within the broadinstitute/sam repository. This work focused on enhancing CI/CD pipeline efficiency by improving caching performance and reliability, resulting in faster and more consistent builds without altering application functionality. Palis applied expertise in CI/CD optimization, GitHub Actions, and YAML to ensure seamless integration of the new cache version across multiple jobs. The upgrade reduced flaky cache misses and supported ongoing modernization of the repository’s continuous integration workflows, demonstrating a methodical approach to cross-repo workflow maintenance and automation.
