Worked on the zulip/zulip repository to enhance the reliability of topic navigation by rewriting the test suite to accurately reflect channel folders and collapsed channels. Focused on aligning automated tests with the current navigation behavior, the work involved treating the next_topic function as a pure function and ensuring coverage for navigation within and across channels, including scenarios with collapsed channels. Using JavaScript and leveraging skills in software development and testing, this effort resolved test drift, reduced flakiness, and improved CI confidence. The changes ensured that test coverage mirrors real user interactions, supporting more stable deployments and facilitating future navigation refactors.
