Worked on the microsoft/agent-framework repository to enhance observability by implementing OpenTelemetry trace context propagation for MCP requests, enabling end-to-end distributed tracing across the platform. Used Python to refactor the OpenTelemetry import to the module level, ensuring immediate failure visibility when dependencies are missing and improving maintainability. Updated both tests and documentation to support these changes, facilitating reliable integration and onboarding for future contributors. This work laid the technical foundation for improved troubleshooting and performance monitoring, ultimately reducing mean time to resolution for MCP-related issues. Focus areas included backend development, observability, and testing, with no major bug fixes recorded.
