During December 2024, Soham Purohit developed a Rust Actix Web sample project for the daytonaio/daytona repository, focusing on backend prototyping within the Daytona ecosystem. He implemented a basic Actix server, placing it in the samples directory and aligning it with established Daytona patterns to streamline onboarding for Rust developers. This work showcased the use of Rust and Actix for backend development, enabling multi-language backend capabilities and facilitating rapid experimentation. Although the contribution was limited to a single feature over one month, it provided a foundational example for future Rust-based services and encouraged broader participation from the Rust development community.
