Worked on the jitsi/jitsi-meet repository to enhance accessibility in the user interface, focusing on improving the semantic structure for assistive technologies. Addressed the heading hierarchy within overlays by adding explicit aria-level attributes to elements with role="heading" in components such as PageReloadOverlay and DeviceStatus. This adjustment aligned the codebase with WCAG accessibility guidelines, ensuring better screen reader compatibility and clearer navigation for users relying on assistive tech. The work was implemented using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript, emphasizing code quality and maintainability while reducing the risk of UI regressions. No bugs were fixed during this period, with efforts centered on accessibility features.
