Worked on the Submitty/Submitty repository to enhance file handling and course material management over a two-month period. Focused on backend development and configuration management, the work introduced configurable file upload limits for course materials, including a migration script to apply default settings to existing courses. Addressed reliability by implementing robust file upload validation, memory safeguards for large PDFs, and improved error messaging to reduce user-facing issues. Utilized Python, JavaScript, and YAML to enforce system-wide and course-specific policies, streamline database migrations, and improve grading workflow stability. These changes reduced storage risks and improved the overall reliability of course material uploads.
