Leveraging Kotlin and Android notification management, Figueroa refactored the notification update flow to accept a channel name parameter, ensuring that users could easily identify the origin of each group message. This feature improved usability by displaying the channel name within notifications, while maintaining compatibility with non-group chat scenarios.
