Over a two-month period, contributed to the GIScience/sketch-map-tool and openrouteservice repositories by developing new download workflows, strengthening Flask endpoints, and integrating analytics and internationalization features. Focused on backend improvements using Python and SQL, the work included refactoring endpoints for robustness, persisting download metrics to the database, and expanding language support. Build automation and environment consistency were enhanced through Dockerfile updates and Maven Wrapper integration. Release management was prioritized by aligning versioning practices for reliable deployments. The approach emphasized maintainability, clear traceability, and deployment efficiency, with attention to configuration management, dependency handling, and thorough documentation updates throughout the process.
