Developed IPv6 delegated IP address management support for the derailed/cilium repository, focusing on enhancing the system’s ability to handle both IPv4 and IPv6 allocations. The work involved refactoring routing information and allocation result structures to ensure consistent processing across IP families, thereby improving maintainability and future extensibility. Leveraging Go and system programming skills, the developer enabled end-to-end IPv6 traffic routing within the IPAM pipeline, directly supporting modern networking requirements. This update aligned the project with IPv6 readiness goals, allowing for effective management and routing of IPv6 traffic without disrupting existing IPv4 functionality, and maintained clear traceability through version control.
December 2024: Delivered IPv6 delegated IPAM support in derailed/cilium, including refactoring routing information and allocation result structures to accommodate IPv4 and IPv6. This enables effective IPv6 traffic management and aligns our IPAM with IPv6 readiness goals. All changes traceable to commit c90aed4c6479daf5df0aada14860af91f1b05b3f ("Support IPv6 for delegated IPAM").
