During December 2024, Rui Cao developed IPv6 delegated IPAM support for the derailed/cilium repository, focusing on enhancing the system’s ability to manage and route IPv6 traffic. Rui refactored routing information and allocation result structures to support both IPv4 and IPv6, improving consistency and maintainability across the IPAM pipeline. This work involved deep system programming in Go and leveraged expertise in CNI, IPAM, and networking. By enabling end-to-end IPv6 traffic routing, Rui addressed modern networking requirements and ensured the system’s readiness for IPv6 adoption. The changes were well-scoped, technically thorough, and traceable to a single, cohesive feature commit.
December 2024: Delivered IPv6 delegated IPAM support in derailed/cilium, including refactoring routing information and allocation result structures to accommodate IPv4 and IPv6. This enables effective IPv6 traffic management and aligns our IPAM with IPv6 readiness goals. All changes traceable to commit c90aed4c6479daf5df0aada14860af91f1b05b3f ("Support IPv6 for delegated IPAM").
