During March 2025, Ssadha focused on enhancing device type reporting reliability within the rdkcentral/entservices-deviceanddisplay repository. Addressing a bug in the GetDeviceType API, Ssadha implemented a fallback mechanism that queries the org.rdk.System plugin when the primary method fails, ensuring accurate device classification for system services. This solution required careful string conversions and updates to platformcapsdatarpc.cpp, leveraging C++ and expertise in device management and RPC. The work improved data quality and reduced misreporting across inventory, telemetry, and orchestration systems. Ssadha’s targeted engineering addressed a nuanced reliability issue, contributing depth and robustness to the device management infrastructure.
