Santeri Rajamäki enhanced the UniversityOfHelsinkiCS/sis-importer repository by introducing support for TARGET_STUDENT_GROUP in the person group retrieval process, enabling more granular categorization of student groups within the SIS import workflow. Leveraging JavaScript, Express.js, and Sequelize, Santeri implemented this feature to align with evolving data governance and reporting requirements while ensuring compatibility with existing import pipelines. The technical approach focused on extending backend API logic to include the new group type, thereby improving the precision of downstream analytics. This work demonstrated a targeted, well-scoped engineering effort, addressing a specific business need with minimal disruption to established workflows.
