During the month, contributed a targeted bug fix to the NixOS/nixpkgs repository, focusing on KDE Plasma 6 cache handling. Addressed an issue where the ksycoca cache wipe did not respect the XDG_CACHE_HOME environment variable, which could cause KDE runner launch failures when users customized their cache directory. The solution involved shell scripting and system configuration skills to ensure cache removal aligned with the XDG Base Directory Specification, improving reliability across diverse user setups. By making the cache wipe environment-variable-aware, the patch delivered clear, testable behavior and enhanced compatibility for users managing their systems with Nix and NixOS.
