During April 2025, work on the global-121/121-platform repository focused on strengthening access control and integration readiness through backend development and configuration. Using TypeScript and JavaScript, two features were delivered to refine role-based access control, including restricting data export permissions to enforce least-privilege principles and introducing a dedicated kobo-validation-user role for KoboToolbox integration. The technical approach involved updating default roles, adding targeted permissions for sensitive actions, and implementing comprehensive tests to validate these changes across multiple environments. These enhancements improved security governance, reduced the risk of unauthorized data exports, and streamlined provisioning for integration-related roles without introducing new bugs.
