During May 2025, Surim Oh enhanced the cp-sync benchmark within the nodejs/node repository by introducing options for dereferencing and forcing copy operations, broadening the scope of performance testing for file system operations. This work, implemented in JavaScript using Node.js, focused on enabling more flexible and realistic benchmarking scenarios, allowing developers to evaluate copy behaviors under various configurations. Surim’s approach emphasized option-driven configuration and performance-oriented instrumentation, ensuring that benchmarking results are both reproducible and traceable through clear Git commits. The enhancements provided deeper insights into file system performance, supporting data-driven optimization and improving the reliability of benchmarking workflows.
