During April 2025, Sphere Accompany616 upgraded the SmartDNS package in the openwrt/packages repository, focusing on aligning the build system and package management processes with upstream changes. They migrated the package source to GitHub codeload, ensuring more stable and reproducible builds, and adjusted semantic versioning to maintain compatibility with future upstream releases. Using Makefile and related build tools, Sphere introduced new configuration files and directory structures to support evolving requirements and facilitate downstream integration. This work reduced maintenance risk and established a foundation for ongoing compatibility, reflecting a targeted, in-depth approach to package management within the openwrt/packages ecosystem.
