This addition improved data integrity and downstream performance by filtering out irrelevant schema changes at the connector level, allowing for more predictable pipeline behavior and enhanced governance during schema evolution. The work involved collaborative development through pull requests and code reviews, demonstrating strong Git workflow discipline. Leveraged skills in Apache Flink, data engineering, and Java to implement the feature, focusing on precise control over schema propagation and ensuring only relevant changes reached downstream systems.
