Contributed to the canva/opentelemetry-collector-contrib repository by implementing AssumeRoleWithWebIdentity support in the sigv4auth extension, enabling AWS authentication for OIDC-based workflows where direct AssumeRole exchange is not feasible. This work involved updating Go-based configuration logic, enhancing credential retrieval mechanisms, and revising documentation to guide users through the new authentication flow. By leveraging AWS, IAM, and OIDC technologies, the changes improved deployment flexibility and security for cloud-native environments using OpenTelemetry Collector. The update also streamlined onboarding for developers adopting web identity-based authentication, reducing integration friction and supporting scalable, secure access patterns in modern cloud infrastructure.
