Worked on the opensearch-project/data-prepper repository to deliver two features focused on reliability and data handling. Developed a mechanism in Java to ensure graceful shutdown by flushing all remaining data to AWS S3, preventing data loss and maintaining data integrity during backend service termination. Also implemented a newline-delimited output codec, allowing events to be written as plain text with configurable options for handling empty messages. Emphasized plugin development and unit testing to align with code quality standards. The work addressed core backend requirements, enhancing both operational reliability and flexibility in data output formats without introducing new bugs during the period.
